Scuba Diving / Snorkeling / Reefs
Belize is more than just a terrestrial paradise. It’s an underwater marvel as well, offering big islands, hundreds of smaller offshore isles, three huge and distinctive coral atolls, and the world’s second largest barrier reef. Belizean waters are filled with shallow gardens of coral, steep drop-offs speckled with vibrant sponges and other marine life. With the world famous Great Blue Hole it's no wonder that Belize is one of the world's most suited diving adventures. The most popular offshore destination in Belize is Ambergris Caye - the northernmost and the largest of the many cayes, it is home to the little town of San Pedro. Singer and songwriter Madonna once sang about this beloved island in her song, "Isla Bonita". Ambergris' sandy streets are filled with charming shops and great restaurants just off the shore of the Caribbean Sea. The dive environment includes over 20 miles of barrier reef that runs parallel to the island. This island offers divers more than 40 named dive sites that can be reached from Las Terrazas each and every day!

Las Terrazas Resort offers a number of unique explorations that allow guests a glimpse of the rich Mayan culture that was located throughout parts of what is now Belize thousands of years ago. The Mayan civilization, dating back to 1500 B.C. is thought to be the most sophisticated civilization in the ancient Americas and traces of this ancient civilization can still be seen in the form of magnificent pyramids that poke through the canopies of the Belizean jungle.
